The disciples from the International Churches of Christ East Africa (ICOCEA) family are gearing up for the 2014 singles retreat to be held in Moshi Tanzania.
Branded “Moshi Retreat” with the theme, “Scaling the heights” drawn from Psalms 18: 29 & 33b “– In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall and he enabled me to stand on mountain heights” will have 100 disciples in attendance. The disciples drawn from Tanzania churches –Dar es Salaam and Arusha, Juba in S. Sudan, Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kampala and Luweero in Uganda, Bujumbura, Kigali and Nairobi with gather at the Mt Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort in Marangu from 30th May to 2nd June 2014.
The singles ministry leader and the coordinator for the 2014 singles retreat Bro. Charles Omollo pointed out that the singles known as shining stars in Kenya are supposed to be the shining examples of the church. The retreat will give a fresh opportunity for the singles to reflect on what heights do they want to scale? Is it the height of Evangelism, Spirituality or Relationships? The issues singles will look at include faith, prayers, serving both internal and external and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

The cost for the retreat is Ksh 16,400 or $150 for locals and internationals respectively. This cost is from Nairobi to the venue in Moshi. Most of the disciples are expected to come through Kenya. For the internationals they will have to cater for their fares separately from the amount paid above. Different committees have been set up to plan and ensure the retreat will be a success. The committees have been meeting weekly to strategize, pray and fast together. There will be lots of activities that will enable the singles to bond and team
The 2014 Moshi retreat will be the fifth after 2009 Naivasha (Kenya), 2010 Maasai Mara (Kenya), 2011 Mbale (Uganda) and 2012 Mombasa Kenya.
Moshi is a Tanzanian municipality in Kilimanjaro Region situated on the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. It is 80km from Arusha and 260km from Nairobi. Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak and the world’s highest free-standing mountain standing at 5,895 metres (19,340 feet) above sea level with a gate way to 35 National Parks in mainland Tanzania and renowned as world Heritages. Its relatively easy ascent has made it become a major destination for mountaineers and trekkers from around the world.
