The year 2025 ushered in a set of challenges for the ICOC-Nairobi church, chief among them being a recognized shortage of dedicated servants. This vital gap meant that ministers were heavily burdened by various practical needs within the congregation, preventing them from fully dedicating themselves to the “ministry of the word and prayer.”
Consequently, the leadership initiated a diligent search for men, grounded in the example set in Acts 6:1-7, seeking those within the church who were “full of the Spirit, faith, and wisdom.”
Following a structured period of orientation, training, and spiritual empowerment, this quest culminated in the appointment of 34 Deacons at a joyous, all-inclusive church service on September 7th, 2025.
The service was made even more special by the presence of our beloved guests from the Triangle Churches in the US: Rick and Lynn Overturf and Kyle Saxton – who have been leading the Triangle Churches.
During this special service, we also extended a heartfelt, special congratulations to Rick Overturf on his installation as an African Elder. We are incredibly thankful for the strong relationship we share with the Triangle Churches and for Rick and his wife, Lynn, who have truly blessed us with their unwavering leadership and deep friendship over many years.
These new deacons have already begun serving in diverse capacities, bringing immense relief and spiritual joy to the congregation. With the burden on the ministers now significantly lightened, the church leadership prays for a resultant surge in growth as the gospel continues to spread effectively across Nairobi and into the surrounding regions.
This day was a moment of deep gratitude for both our new deacons and our honored guests, and the entire church family gives glory to the Lord for His provision.

A thought-provoking message by Rick Overturf titled, “The Questioning Jesus.” We were challenged to reflect on seven profound questions Jesus asked that cut right to the core of our faith and our relationship with God.

A special congratulations to Rick Overturf on his installation as an African Elder. We’re so thankful for the relationship we have with the Triangle Churches and for Rick and his wife, Lynn, who have blessed us with their leadership and friendship over many years.

We were blessed to be led by Kyle Saxton in a beautiful communion service, where we paused to remember the ultimate sacrifice and love of Jesus.
